The Smithwick’s Cat Laughs Comedy Festival in Kilkenny is seeking to recruit a Chief Executive Officer.
The Smithwick’s Cat Laughs is a five-day international festival of stand-up comedy which takes place in Kilkenny annually to coincide with the June Bank Holiday weekend. The festival is a year-round operation and is governed by a Board of Directors and Executive Directors.
Reporting to the Executive Directors, the Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for managing the five main elements that constitute the dynamic around which the festival operates; Administration, Programming, Marketing, Production and Finance. The CEO will work closely with the Artistic Director, Publicist, Financial Manager and Production Manager.The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing a busy company and will be able to demonstrate a high level of leadership and interpersonal skills.

Festival Director
KINSALE ARTS

Kinsale Arts Week, now in its fourth successful year as one of the most innovative and eclectic arts festivals in Ireland, is seeking a Director to take overall responsibility for arts programming and co-ordination of the nine-day event (July 11-19th 2009).
Supported by a full-time Festival Manager, contracted production manager, box office manager and a host of volunteers, the Festival Director will select proposed projects across a wide range of media – performance, music, literary, visual arts and community-based - within budget and artistic guidelines set by the Board, and bring them to fruition for Kinsale Arts Week 2009.
They are looking for an energetic and talented arts professional with vision and a passion for festival programming. Strong arts administration experience with budget responsibility, coupled with marketing and project management skills will be a pre-requisite. Experience of sponsorship and fund-raising will be an advantage. The Festival Director will have to work closely with a voluntary Board and team of workers; so good people skills are essential.
This is planned as an initial 9 month contract from November 2008 to July 2009, then 12 month contracts thereafter, and you will be based in Kinsale or the Cork area. If you are unable to work full-time before Christmas, please let us know in your application.

Programme Specialist (Culture)
UNESCO - SECTION OF THE DIVERSITY OF CULTURAL EXPRESSIONS (CLT/CEI/DCE), DIVISION OF CULTURAL EXPRESSIONS AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES, CULTURE SECTOR
Location: Paris, France
Salary: UNESCO’s salaries are calculated in US dollars but paid mainly in local currency. For this post, the annual remuneration in local currency will start from around €65,600 (€61,200 if without dependants) exempt from income tax. Main responsibilities
Under the authority of the Director of the Division of Cultural Expressions and Creative Industries and the direct supervision of the Chef of the Section of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, the incumbent will be responsible, at the operational level, for the implementation and monitoring of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005), in particular by advising and assisting the Parties in the implementation of cultural policies and the protection of cultural expressions. In particular, he/she will carry out the following duties:
Assistance to Member States in the field of cultural policy (Arts. 6, 7, 8, 10)
Statutory meetings of the Convention
 
Profile
• Advanced university degree in the fields of cultural policy, management and development; knowledge of statistics.
• At least four to seven years’ professional experience, including two acquired preferably at the international level, in developing countries, in the field of cultural policy.
• Experience of working with expert networks and partnership projects, particularly in the area of training.
• Good knowledge of information technologies.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Solid capacity for organization and coordination.
• Ability to work in a team, take the initiative and provide support and quality services.
• Excellent knowledge of English or French and good knowledge of the other language; knowledge of Spanish would be an asset.
 
The initial appointment, which is for two years, includes a probationary period of 12 months, and is renewable, subject to satisfactory service. Worldwide mobility is required as staff members have to serve in other duty stations according to UNESCO’s job rotation policy. UNESCO is a non-smoking Organization.
