Operating Partner: Expressions of Interest, The Ropetackle Arts & Education Centre

The Ropetackle Arts and Education Centre, containing a purpose built flexible performance space seating 200, a bar, cafe and meeting rooms, was built as part of the regeneration of Shoreham-by-Sea Town Centre with funding from SEEDA and Adur District Council. In February 2007 the Council entered into a 30 year lease with the Ropetackle Centre Trust, a charity set up by local people to run the centre. Funding was received by the Trust, mainly from the Arts Council, to equip it to a high standard.

Ropetackle became fully operational in September 2007 and its programme has offered an eclectic mix of music, theatre, comedy, film and literature based activities and workshops, which has achieved a steady increase in audience numbers drawn from the Worthing to Brighton catchment area. It also has a role as a community arts centre. In the first half of June, as part of the Adur Festival, Ropetackle put on 15 events in a 16 day period with full houses for such diverse acts as Michael McIntyre, Eliza Carthy, the Animals and Black Umfolosi 5.

The Trust, supported by Adur District Council, is now seeking expressions of interest from potential partners working alongside the Trust to exploit the increasing commercial opportunities offered by a high quality arts and entertainment centre.

Initial expressions of interest are sought from potential partners before 31st August 2008 with a view to more detailed proposals being submitted by 1st October 2008 for the selection of a preferred partner by the middle of November.

To receive further details about submitting an expression of interest and an information pack about Ropetackle, please contact Martin Allen at The Ropetackle Centre, Little High Street, Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex, BN43 5EG,

Cross platform and/or convergent production skills

·        Multi-skilling: training for staff and freelancers in convergent technologies

  • Specialist post entry level training and CPD opportunities are not available in the region

    Interactive
  • Problems of attraction and retention are translating into skills shortages in:

SCRIPT

SCRIPT wishes to appoint an individual, or organisation to devise, manage and deliver strategic organisational refocusing and secure the necessary resources to meet SCRIPT’s aims.

SCRIPT aims:
• to identify, develop and empower dramatic writing talent across the West Midlands;
• to create an environment in the West Midlands in which new writing in all dramatic media can flourish and develop;
• to develop the partnerships, networks and resources to enable this to happen

We are looking for someone, who between now and March 2009, will strategically refocus the organisation and acquire the resources necessary for its continued growth - working in tandem with our Programmes Director.

We need a focused and energetic individual to represent, advocate for and raise the profile of the company, and who will tap into the dynamism of the West Midlands and capitalise fully on the potential of enhanced partnerships.

Applicants should be strategic thinkers with fundraising skills and at least five years relevant experience in the Creative Industries

This opportunity is offered as a tender. Applicants will be self-administrating, with access to an office in the creative heart of Birmingham.

The fee for this will be £25,000 incl.

SCRIPT welcomes applications that reflect the cultural diversity of the communities within which we work.

STAGETEXT

In September 2006, STAGETEXT and VocalEyes began working in partnership to develop the See a Voice project, an HM Treasury Invest to Save- and Arts Council Grants for the Arts-funded initiative to enable venues to work together to develop high quality, sustainable and cost effective captioning and audio description services. So far the project has worked in London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Keswick and Newcastle.

We are now looking for venues and companies which would be interested in working with us, either individually, or in partnerships, during the second phase of the project. In return for your commitment and enthusiasm, See a Voice will provide the resources necessary to achieve a step-change in your provision of assisted performances.

In particular we are looking for applications from

· Venues that display commitment to excellent access from the senior management team down, right through the organisation, but which may not have had the resources or the time to dedicate to establishing their own captioning and audio description services
· Venues which have made some headway in developing their own services, but which would be interested in working with us to grow their deaf and visually impaired audiences or to ensure that the services are of the highest possible quality
· Companies that would be interested in exploring ways in which they could make their work accessible when it’s on tour

If your organisation meets any of these criteria, we would be interested in hearing from you. We are eager to make this opportunity available around the English regions to ensure geographic spread, and to a range of types of venues and companies.
